This work is a reinterpretation of a plaster bust created during an earlier phase of my artistic research. The form evokes an ancient archetype — the classical female torso — yet it is reconstructed using contemporary materials and methods.
Entirely made out of epoxy, Its surface appears matte and opaque, like a dark ocean concealing its depth, it’s attractive, polished, elegant and transparent.
Giving the female torso a transaprency and smoothness that no classical artist could ever achieve before the 20th century.
When light is activated behind the sculpture, transparency emerges: fractures, textures and suspended details come to life, transforming the body from solid to ethereal.
The piece exists in a dialogue between two eras — past and present, what is seen and what is hidden, a classical figure with contemporary language.
The duality of the sculpture becomes a dialogue between what is the outer perception people have of a person, versus the internal struggles and traumas a person carries within.
The internal architecture of emotions and deeds unique to each one of us: memories, fragments, and invisible layers that change and shape the body beyond its appearance.
